Parents & Guardians
Resources and information for Johnathan Academy families.
This section holds the documents and information families need during the school year — handbook, forms, health and safety notices, the academic calendar, and school news.
During the Year
Communication. Notices about schedules, closures, events, and student progress are sent by email to the address on file. Keep that address current with the school office; changing it in one system does not change it everywhere.
Reports. Progress is reported at intervals through the year rather than only at term's end, so that a problem surfaces while there is still time to act on it.
When something is going wrong. Contact the subject teacher first — they see the day-to-day and usually have the fastest answer. For anything spanning multiple courses, or for a concern about wellbeing, contact the school office and ask for the counsellor.
Absence and Attendance
Notify the school office on the morning of an absence. Extended absences — travel, medical, family — should be raised in advance where possible; missed assessments are easier to arrange around when they are known about beforehand.
Attendance is a graduation requirement for BC credit courses, not only a school preference.
For Homestay Families
Students in the homestay programme have a designated contact for placement matters, separate from academic questions. Both are reachable through the school office.
