How to Apply

Follow these steps to apply for admission to Johnathan Academy.

Eligibility

Johnathan Academy welcomes applications from students entering Grades 8 through 12. Both domestic and international students are encouraged to apply.

Required Documents

  • Completed application form
  • Official transcripts from previous school(s)
  • Copy of passport or government-issued ID
  • Proof of English proficiency (for international students)
  • Personal statement or letter of interest
  • Two letters of recommendation

Applications are accepted year-round, but places in a given term are limited and are filled in the order complete applications are received. A complete application is the one that gets assessed — an incomplete file simply waits.

What a Complete Application Contains

  • Application form, with the student's legal name exactly as it appears on their passport or identity document
  • Academic transcripts for the previous two years, with English translation if the originals are in another language
  • Copy of passport or identity document
  • Proof of English proficiency where the student's prior schooling was not in English
  • Application fee

Missing translations are the most common reason a file sits unassessed. If your transcripts are in Chinese, arrange the translation before submitting rather than after being asked.

How It Proceeds

1. Submit the form and documents to the admissions office 2. Assessment — academic record, English level, and fit for the grade applied to 3. Interview — with the student, and with parents where they are available; conducted online for applicants outside Canada 4. Decision and offer — issued in writing, with the fee schedule 5. Confirmation — a place is held once the deposit is received 6. Enrolment — course selection, and where needed, homestay and study permit support

Timing

Apply early for September entry. Families applying from outside Canada should allow additional time for a study permit — that timeline is set by IRCC, not by the school, and it is the step most likely to delay a start date.

Transferring In

Students transferring from another BC school, from elsewhere in Canada, or from an overseas system are assessed on the credits already earned. Course selection for the coming year is planned as part of the offer, not after arrival, so that graduation requirements stay on track.
