AP School Code: 820004
Johnathan Academy is a College Board authorized AP Exam Centre (AP school code 820004) and an authorized SAT test centre (centre code 94437). The AP centre is open to candidates from any school — students do not need to be enrolled at Johnathan Academy to write here.
Who Writes Here
Each May the centre seats candidates from across Greater Vancouver: our own students, students from other independent and public schools, and homeschooled candidates. Roughly forty subject sections run across the regular and late testing windows.
How Registration Works
Registration runs in three steps, and the order matters:
1. Register and pay. Choose your subjects and complete payment. This reserves a seat. 2. Join with your code. After registration closes and the College Board opens its system, you receive a Join Code by email. Use it to enrol in your exams at myap.collegeboard.org. 3. Write in May.
The Join Code does not arrive immediately. Codes are issued once the College Board's configuration is complete — normally in November — and are sent together. Between paying and receiving a code, nothing is wrong: your seat is held.
When the code does arrive, act on it. The email states a deadline, and it is short. A code that is not used within that window can lapse, and the seat may be released to someone on the waiting list.
Fees
| Regular | Late | |
|---|---|---|
| Most subjects | CAD $290 | CAD $390 |
| Chinese, French, Music Theory, Japanese | CAD $330 | CAD $430 |
Registering after the regular deadline moves you to the later rate. Fees are quoted in Canadian dollars and payable in full at registration.
Two Campuses
Exams are written at one of two locations, and which one depends on your subject — check the reminder email before exam day.
- Main Campus — 400-5750 Oak Street, Vancouver. Entrance at the southeast corner of Oak and 41st. Elevators are closed during the exam period; use the stairs.
- Exam Campus — 5840 Oak Street, Vancouver. Entrance at the rear of the building, facing east.
Both are served by the R4 and Route 17 buses, stop Oak St @ W 41 Ave.
What You Must Bring
Government-issued photo identification. A driver's licence, passport, Canadian Citizenship Certificate, or PR card. Candidates without one are not permitted to write — there is no exception and no way for staff to vouch for you.
Most subjects are now written in the College Board's Bluebook application on your own device. Install and test it well before exam day, and bring a device that will hold three hours of charge. Charging stations are available on site.
Phones, smart watches, and smart glasses are not permitted on campus. Leave them at home or hand them to a parent before check-in. Doors close 15 minutes before the start time and latecomers cannot be admitted.
Accommodations
This centre does not support SSD accommodations. Candidates with approved College Board accommodations should register at a centre that can provide them. If you are unsure whether your accommodation can be accommodated here, contact us before registering rather than after paying.
