Accessibility Statement
Our commitment to making the Johnathan Academy website accessible to all users.
Johnathan Academy serves families across Greater Vancouver, and our AP Exam Centre is open to candidates from every school in the region. This site should work for all of them.
What We Aim For
We build toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. In practice that means:
- Every page can be operated with a keyboard alone, and the focused element is always visible
- Text and background colours are chosen to meet contrast requirements, in both the English and Chinese versions
- Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from screen readers
- Headings follow a real outline, so screen-reader users can navigate by structure rather than scrolling
- Pages reflow to narrow screens without horizontal scrolling, and text can be enlarged without content being cut off
- Motion is kept restrained, and animation is reduced for visitors whose systems request it
Known Limitations
Some material on this site is published as PDF — handbooks, forms, and notices. Not all of these are fully tagged for screen readers. If you need any document in an accessible format, contact the school office and we will provide it another way, normally within two business days.
We also embed a map from a third-party service. Its accessibility is outside our control; the campus addresses and transit directions are given as text on the contact page so the map is never the only source.
On Exam Day
Accessibility on this website is separate from testing accommodations. Approved accommodations for AP Exams are arranged through the College Board's Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) process, not through the school. Please check our AP Exam Centre pages for what our site supports, and contact the school before registering if you have an approved accommodation, so we can confirm what can be provided.
Tell Us What Is Not Working
If you run into a page you cannot use, please tell us what you were trying to do and what got in the way — including the browser or assistive technology you use, if you know it. That detail is what lets us reproduce and fix the problem. Contact details are on the contact page.
