What the SAT Is

The SAT is a standardized admissions test used primarily by universities in the United States. It is now delivered digitally through the College Board's Bluebook application, is adaptive in structure, and takes just over two hours.

Many US universities have made the test optional. "Optional" is not the same as "irrelevant" — at selective institutions a strong score still strengthens an application, particularly for international applicants whose school grading system is unfamiliar to the admissions office.

Registering to Write Here

Registration is made directly with the College Board, not with the school:

  • Create or sign in to a College Board account
  • Choose a test date
  • Search for the test centre and select Johnathan Academy Secondary School (94437)
  • Pay the College Board's registration fee

Seats at any centre are limited and are allocated in the order registrations are received. Popular dates in the autumn fill early.

On Test Day

  • Bring government-issued photo identification. Candidates without it are not admitted.
  • Bring a fully charged device that meets College Board requirements, along with its charger. Bluebook must be installed and tested in advance.
  • Bring an approved calculator; the Bluebook application also includes one.
  • Arrive early. Doors close before the test begins and latecomers cannot be admitted.

Preparation

Johnathan Academy offers SAT preparation as part of its academic programming. Preparation is most useful when it is planned against a target test date and the student's university timeline, rather than begun a few weeks before sitting the test.

Questions

Questions about writing the SAT at this centre can be sent to the AP & SAT office. Questions about registration, fees, scores, and accommodations are handled by the College Board directly.
